'The Fish Fry Festival' is an event that was started by musician Charles Burchell and visual artist Nadia Westcott. 'The Fish Fry' was created in an effort to build a multi-disciplinary art event that brought artists of various mediums together in celebration of art, food, and community. Charles hailing originally from New Orleans, was inspired by the community aspect of traditional southern fish fry's and coupled this concept with his artistic background to create an event where art creators of many kinds and their audiences could meet under one roof! This gathering of community and celebration of the arts is the main focus of the event. The line-up of The Fish Fry Festival changes with each event but the secondary goal in gathering community is to focus on supporting local artists in fostering a meeting space for the creators to connect.
The collaboration with Mission Gallery for Fish Fry IV seemed to make perfect sense as they also hold a very similar vision and philosophy. Mission Gallery is a traveling pop-up art gallery which focuses on highlighting emerging artists and creating diverse and creative events that are community accessible
